The Eastern Cape will face a cool, rain-affected day as isolated showers and scattered thunderstorms move across the province. Temperatures are expected to remain mild, with Mthatha forecast at 18°C and Willowmore reaching a high of 24°C.
Forecaster Odirile Modipa said cooler conditions would dominate much of the province.
“Isolated into the central interior as well as parts of the Eastern Cape,” she said.
Thunderstorm alerts remain in place
A yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms remains active over parts of the Eastern Cape, particularly areas affected by overnight rainfall.
Modipa explained that storm activity would migrate into the eastern regions as the day progresses.
“Scattered to widespread showers are expected over the central and eastern parts of the country,” she said.
Warnings include possible strong winds, heavy downpours and reduced visibility on regional roads.
Residents urged to exercise caution
Communities in high-risk areas have been urged to stay alert and monitor updates throughout the day.
Modipa added that temperatures remained low overnight, which could contribute to fog patches and slippery road surfaces by morning.
Authorities recommend limiting travel during storm periods and securing loose outdoor items.
