The fall out centres around Jamie and Sophie Habboo’s wedding[/caption]
But in recent years a mysterious rift between the pair has threatened to end their friendship for good.
There were suggestions of a rift over Jamie forgetting to invite Spencer to his first wedding to Sophie Habboo and then allegations he behaved badly at the couple’s second wedding.
Now, the Made In Chelsea stars have sat down and discussed their friendship for the first time since the speculation started, revealing why they fell out.
It turns out that the breakdown of relations was triggered by Spencer’s dislike of boozy stag dos.
They began by thrashing out what went wrong between them and it emerged that Spencer, who quit drinking in 2018 after previously having an alcohol problem, thought it would not be an issue if he turned down going on Jamie’s stag do, whereas Radio 1 presenter Jamie saw it as “insulting”.
Jamie then did not invite Spencer to his wedding – something at first Spencer brushed aside but later felt offended over as he felt he had been inexplicably snubbed.
Speaking on Jamie’s Great Company podcast, he said: “I was pretty hurt by that and I tried to brush that under the table. I’m sure it wasn’t malicious from you, at least I’d like to think it wasn’t.
“I was flying back from somewhere and Vogue (Williams, his wife) showed me a Daily Mail article that literally showed me your London wedding celebrations and loads of your friends there.
“I think we had had some conversation and you were like ‘it’s not really a friends thing, it’s a family small thing’. And there were loads of friends there.
“I remember thinking ‘What have I done to annoy him?’
“Vogue was just like ‘It’s pretty weird that you wouldn’t be invited to that’. And I just thought ‘it is a real shame’.
“At first I just brushed it off as ‘Oh, it’s fine, it doesn’t matter’, but the more I thought about it I probably felt that it did matter.”
Jamie replied: “For me what happened was I had my English wedding and you weren’t invited to it and that kicked off stuff to not make us friends.
Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing – relationship timeline

MADE In Chelsea stars Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo said I Do in 2023. Here’s their love story.
- The couple first met while appearing in the E4 show Made In Chelsea.
- During a trip to South Africa, which aired towards the end of MIC series 17, Jamie began to realise he had feelings for Sophie.
- The couple first got together in 2019 but endured a number of obstacles including a cheating scandal during the same year, as he slept with Rosi Mai Waldon while the pair were exclusively dating.
- Jamie and Sophie managed to successfully put the past behind them and announced their engagement in 2021.
- They had a London wedding in April 2023.
- Shortly after, Jamie and Sophie flew to Spain to get married at the Marbella Club surrounded by 200 guests.
- In June 2025, the happy couple announced they were expecting their first child together.
“A genuine big mistake from me.
“The true reason for it was this.
“Soph was very anxious and having a really tough time with anxiety around getting married. I’d put her on doing this podcast all about our wedding.
“She had said to me before ‘I just want to get married with my feet in the sand – I don’t want all of this. You want this Jamie, I don’t want all this’.
“I was just thinking about her.
“I had had my stag do and you didn’t want to come to the stag do, which was fine, which I get, but for me that was like ‘Well why wouldn’t you want to come to the stag do?’ “
Then speaking about the wedding, Jamie continued: “I was like ‘It’s going to be complicated if I try and invite him, it’s like a small thing for lunch and will he want to come and do that’.”
Spencer then told Jamie: “For the record I would have loved to have been there and I would have flown from anywhere to be there. You’ve always been a very important person to me.”
But on the stag do rejection he added: “I don’t like the concept of stag dos. I personally think that stag dos make whoever you’re marrying feel really uncomfortable.
“Maybe not in all cases, certainly in my case with drinking, the idea of going to a foreign country, bunch of lads, even in the time I used to go on stag dos, it’s never really sat well with me. You always get very, very, very drunk.
“I made a decision years and years ago, party stag dos, ‘it’s not for me’.
“I should have made more of an effort with you just to say ‘listen, please have a fantastic time, love to come to the wedding, I really don’t want to go on a stag do because I don’t like being away with a bunch of guys getting drunk for three days, I don’t enjoy it’.
“It’s a breakdown of communication. In retrospect I probably should have come to your stag do for two nights and just not drank. That was kind of selfish of me.
“We’ve hit the nail on the head a little bit with the confusion over the stag do. I would not have understood that to be in any way offensive or troubling to you at all. “It wouldn’t even have crossed my mind that that could be a potential issue.
“You saw it as insulting and I didn’t. And then I think we just lost a bit of touch.”
Jamie then admitted: “I’m sensitive to rejection.”
Speculation over a fall out grew when extreme runner Spencer was not seen cheering Jamie on during his 150-mile run for the Comic Relief Challenge earlier this year.
Spencer, who pointed out they also both have busy lives, said he posted a congratulatory message, while adding about their lack of contact: “I don’t regularly socialise with anyone really.”
