One of those stars is presenting icon Jonathan Ross, who has revealed that the celebrities are dreading watching the show back after being hit by paranoia during filming.
Ahead of the show airing, the 64-year-old said on his podcast, Reel Talk: “I’m looking forward to seeing the reactions because obviously we went through something which – and all of us agree – was a very unusual experience.
“Quite a bonding experience but also kind of traumatic in that you’re suddenly taken away from home, you don’t know who you can trust or what you can trust, everyone is paranoid in there, everyone was really paranoid.
“And also we were denied contact with the outside world. We had our mobile phones taken away from us, no laptop, no internet, for weeks. So it’s going to be really interesting for all of us to watch it as well.
The ITV star continued: “There are so many surprises but I do hope people enjoy it. I’m not overly nervous because I’m quite pragmatic and what’s done is done, so there’s no point.
“And also we had no say and no control over the edit at all, and that’s what was one of the reasons why I think quite a lot of people I spoke to at the screening said ‘I’m sort of dreading this’.
“I don’t think they were actually dreading it based on what they thought would be in it. I think it was more like: here’s a piece of tv that…. They’ve all worked in tv or film, and here’s something which for the first time perhaps they haven’t even seen a rough cut or a second.
“And so there was an element of trepidation in the room. But I think it’s going to be popular and a lot of fun. I’m looking forward to seeing it as well.”
Aside from Jonathan, the cast also includes Alan Carr, Kate Garraway, Charlotte Church and actor Mark Bonnar.
Also featuring on the Claudia Winkleman hosted show are rugby ace Joe Marler, EastEnders actress Tameka Empson, Tom Daley, Ruth Codd and comedian Joe Wilkinson.
Hoping to win the show are Stephen Fry, Nick Mohammed, David Olusoga, Niko Omilana and Clare Balding.
Rounding out the cast are comedienne Lucy Beaumont, Paloma Faith, actress Celia Imrie and singer Cat Burns.
They will compete to win £100,000 to donate to a charity of their choice.
Despite the show having not aired yet, bosses are reportedly already eyeing the next star-studded run and have been sounding out celebrities.
The last civilian run, which aired in January, attracted huge ratings of seven million per episode.
A source said: “The Celebrity Traitors is landing at the very peak of the format’s popularity, it’s the biggest show on the box, globally, and the cast is exceptional.
“Everyone knows something would have gone incredibly wrong if this didn’t become the TV event of the year.
“The official message is that a formal recommission depends how well series one does, but in reality it’s all but a done deal.
“Celebrities have already been sounded out on appetite to join.”
The Celebrity Traitors airs tonight at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
