Kaizer Chiefs have seemingly made a transfer U-turn on midfielder George Matlou.
Matlou’s contract with Amakhosi expires on 30 June, and the club has not made any pronouncements as to whether or not he will stay.
Various reports previously suggested that Matlou could be released by Chiefs when his contract expires.
However, UnplayableZA reports that Matlou is included on the list of Chiefs players who will be traveling to the Netherlands in July.
Chiefs will head to the Netherlands for their pre-season training between 3-19 July, and this would long after Matlou’s contract had expired.
But if he is indeed on the list of players traveling to the Netherlands then it means he is contract will be extended by Chiefs.
Since his arrival from Moroka Swallows, the 26-year-old has featured 40 times for Chiefs and registered three assists.
