Kaizer Chiefs news: Duba, Silva and Ighodaro

Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba isn’t shying away from the spotlight. The 20-year-old believes he has shown enough to stake his claim as Amakhosi’s number one striker, despite the arrival of heavyweight names like Etiosa Ighodaro and Flavio Silva.

Last season, Duba was a shining light in Kaizer Chiefs’ attack, netting five goals in 25 games. One of those strikes, a crucial finish against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-final, etched Duba’s name into the club’s folklore as Chiefs ended their ten-year trophy drought.

This term, though, the youngster is still waiting to open his account after four Betway Premiership starts.

NEW STRIKERS AT KAIZER CHIEFS

I think last season I did show that I’m ready for anything and willing to be Kaizer Chiefs’ number one striker,” Duba said.

“I’m happy now that there’s [Etiosa Ighodaro] and Flavio [Silva] that I will learn from because they have been there.

“Even last season with other strikers, they were pushing me to work hard and be the number one.

“So, I don’t think with them arriving, it will change a lot. I will still train hard, and if I have to play, then I’ll be number one,” the Soweto-born attacker added.
