Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart is close to signing for Austrian outfit SV Ried for around R15 million.
The 29-year-old was left out of the pre-season tour to the Netherlands with the player wishing to leave the Soweto giants. Maart’s contract expired end of June but it is believed Amakhosi extended their captain’s deal before it expired ensuring they wouldn’t lose him for free.
Soccer Laduma reported that Kaizer Chiefs are looking to sell their captain for R15 million.
“The deal is as good as done. It’s believed that Chiefs have asked for R15 million from SV Ried. They are making good business with these players moving away. They did the same with Teenage Hadebe, Siyabonga Ngezana and recently Thatayaone Ditlhokwe. So they have done the same with Maart. It’s believed they are money when least expected,” a source told the publication.
Maart to leave Chiefs for R15 million?
Kaizer Chiefs are also set to lose Edson Castillo after the South American was not included in their pre-season squad.
“They could still lose Castillo before the season starts, depending on the interest in the player and the player’s wish and request to move on to another club. That’s the other foreign quota space which could open up at the club,” the source revealed.
Both Maart and Castillo have been the heart of the Amakhosi midfield for two years. With Maart set to leave for R15 million, Kaizer Chiefs might also put a hefty price tag on the South American given his demand in North America.
