Kaizer Chiefs defender Bradley Cross is not running away from the noise. Instead, he’s decided to use the criticism from Amakhosi fans as motivation to step up his game.
The 24-year-old has already made two league appearances this season, which helped Kaizer Chiefs to two clean sheets in the wins over Stellenbosch (2-0) and Polokwane City (1-0).
Last season, he featured 23 times across all competitions, switching between left-back and centre-back.

“Well, it’s normal to receive constructive criticism,” the former Newcastle United defender said. “I think it helps me as a player to improve.

“I believe it helps the team grow and move forward, whether I make mistakes or not. It is also good to have healthy competition in that position [left-back].

On the healthy competition for the left-back position with new signings Paseka Mako and Nkanyiso Shinga, Cross said: “Firstly, I think having competition is beneficial because it helps you improve and prevents complacency.
“Having the guys [Mako and Shinga] in the same position is good for squad depth,” Cross concluded.
