Oscar Pistorius’s name has been thrust into the spotlight again after the mother of Reeva Steenkamp – the girlfriend he murdered in 2013 – suffered a stroke earlier this week.
Last year, Oscar was released on parole after serving half his murder sentence. Although he has been ordered to keep a low profile, the former Paralympian has slowly returned to participating in sporting events.
The 38-year-old has also been linked to another blonde bombshell, Rita Greyling.
WHERE IS OSCAR PISTORIUS?
Since being released on parole, Oscar Pistorius has been living at his uncle Arnold Pistorius’s Pretoria mansion.
Unconfirmed reports claimed that the former gold medallist has volunteered at a local church and even approached the International Paralympic Committee for a job.
After initially keeping a low profile, the 38-year-old returned to the spotlight by competing in the Ironman 70.3 triathlon in Durban in June.
Oscar placed third in the “physically challenged” category, which included a 1.9 km swim, a 90 km bike ride, and a 21.1 km run, totaling 113 km.
In pictures circulating online, Oscar blended into the crowd with his polarised sunglasses, helmet, and dark clothing. He also wore his prosthetic legs.
According to the Department of Correctional Services, Oscar Pistorius received approval to attend the racing event.
This comes amid his strict parole conditions, which include limited travel and home confinement, and not consuming alcohol or possessing any dangerous weapons.
CAN HE CONTACT REEVA STEENKAMP’S FAMILY?
While many South Africans believe Oscar Pistorius should support Reeva Steenkamp’s mother, June, who has asked the public for financial assistance, his strict parole restrictions state otherwise.
Oscar is prohibited from contacting the family of the woman he murdered.
Other parole conditions include:
- Limited travel and home confinement
- Not consuming alcohol or possessing any dangerous weapons
- Not speaking to the media or having any social media presence
- Attending therapy to deal with anger and gender-based violence issues
He will serve the remainder of his murder sentence on parole, which will remain in effect until 2029.
WHO IS HE DATING?
Last year, Oscar Pistorius was romantically linked to a woman named Rita Greyling.
The blonde woman – who easily resembles the late Reeva Steenkamp – is a 33-year-old business management consultant who also lives in Pretoria.
