Olandria Carthen has officially made the leap from reality TV to high fashion.
The Love Island USA star made her runway debut for acclaimed designer Sergio Hudson at New York Fashion Week on Friday, 12 September.
LOVE ISLAND ON THE RUNWAY
Fashion enthusiasts may recognise Hudson as one of the most talked‑about Black designers in America. They are known for dressing global stars including Beyoncé and Michelle Obama.
For Olandria, stepping onto his runway marked a major career milestone.
The 24‑year‑old walked the catwalk in a bold design: an abstract orange, black and nude jacket with sparkling sleeve embellishments.
OLANDRIA’S STYLE DETAILS
She paired it with black shorts, a cinched belt, strappy heels and gold hoops. Her hair was pulled into a sleek low bun. She completed the look with a classic French manicure, according to People.
But fashion wasn’t the only highlight of the evening. Olandria’s biggest supporter, boyfriend and fellow Love Island runner‑up, Nic Vansteenberghe, sat front row.
NIC SUPPORTS HIS GIRL
Cameras caught him recording her runway strut, beaming with pride. “This is everything, they are EVERYTHING!!” Marie Claire gushed on Instagram, sharing the sweet moment of Nic cheering her on.
Beside him sat Serena Page, winner of Love Island USA season 6, who wore a striking red suit.
Nic and Olandria even teased fans before the show, sharing a car selfie labelled ‘The VanCarthens’ with a black heart emoji.
DATING ON LOVE ISLAND
Still, their relationship hasn’t been without its hurdles. Nic was once coupled with Love Island’s Cierra Ortega, a close friend of Olandria.
“I didn’t allow myself to feel that spark. Felt guilty,” Olandria said earlier this year. “I always preach about girlhood and sisterhood. Wanted to stay true to my word.”
BEYOND REALITY TV
Now, the pair seem stronger than ever, with supporters rooting for them beyond reality TV.
“The universe keeps putting them together for a reason,” fellow contestant Taylor Williams said. “I hope they keep it going.”
For South African fashion fans, Hudson’s shows are a reminder of how Black designers are shaping global luxury.
And Olandria’s debut proves reality TV can spark more than just romance, it can launch fashion careers too.
