Luke Littler eyes ‘golden nine-darter’ like wacky £1million snooker prize when darts heads to Saudi Arabia in 2026

LUKE LITTLER would love a £1MILLION golden nine-darter when darts hits Saudi Arabia.

The teen sensation has spoken for the first time about the PDC holding an inaugural World Series event in the kingdom on January 19 and 20.

Littler hopes there will be a similar wacky addition like snooker’s 167 super-maximum in Saudi Arabia

Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, has said he wanted to get involved in darts and introduce a “crazy concept” to the sport.

Littler, 18, hopes when the arrows arrive at the Global Theater in Riyadh there will be a similar wacky addition like snooker’s 167 super-maximum which was introduced in Saudi last year.

Littler loves the new ideas but is adamant the World Championship shouldn’t leave London.

He revealed: “It’s been announced but for us players and we get an email about how many guests we’re allowed but I’ve not seen any mention of money yet. But I’m sure I won’t be going over there for nothing!

“It’s very good what Turki Alalshikh is doing for boxing. Now he wants darts and we are going in January. I’m sure he’ll put the money on the table for whoever plays in it.

“It will be the Premier League players and the other eight, whoever it may be.

“Definitely don’t go over there for the Worlds, keep it at the Ally Pally.

“But If it goes well I’m sure we’ll be out there very often. I’ve only seen the [snooker] 167 with the golden ball on the Matchroom documentary.

“But a million pound to do the 147 and then a 167 maybe he comes up with a golden nine-darter. I think a golden nine-darter would be perfect.

“Maybe make the double 12, double 15 or double 18 or the bullseye golden. Or even a golden 170, make the bullseye golden. I’m sure he’ll come up with something.”

Littler produced an epic 152 finish to dump Gerwyn Price out of the World Grand Prix at the quarter-finals stage on Friday night.

He now feels he has added an extra element to his armour of fighting his way back into matches.

On being 2-0 down, The Nuke added: “When I went into the back room after the second set I sat down and said ‘it’s over’. I slammed my bottle down on the table. It’s over, it’s done.

“I got back on stage and thought you’ve just got to go for it. The Matchplay definitely helps. Going 5-0 down three times and going on to lift it. I know I’ve got the capability to come back and that’s what I did.”

Price also tried to get under Littler’s skin with several loud leg-winning celebration screams and shouts during the clash. Littler also later cheekily hit back with his own.

He added: “I just laughed to myself when he hits his double, holds throw and gives it, I’m like: ‘You’ve held your throw Gez, come on’.

“But that’s what he does. I’ve just got to keep my head, got back into it and won the game. The whole of the last set we were both giving it!”
