Luke Littler on track to win two darts tournaments in same day and take home more than £130k

LUKE LITTLER could win two tournaments in the same night and bank a double dose of prize money to boot.

The 18-year-old has surprised everyone by throwing his hat in the ring for the World Youth Championship.

He skipped the tournament last year to focus exclusively on more lucrative senior events.

But Littler is still young enough to enter and has confirmed he wants another crack at the title he won in 2023.

The youngster will headline the qualifiers in Wigan today – less than 24 hours after he thrashed Luke Humphries to win the World Grand Prix – as he bids to topple reigning champ Gian van Veen.

Things could get complicated if Littler makes it to the final.

Because the winner-takes-all showdown is scheduled to be played before the Players Championship final in Minehead on November 23.

That means Littler will be forced to play two finals in one evening if he goes all the way in both tournaments.

The Players Championship final – won by Humphries in 2023 and 2024 – comes with a £120,000 top prize.

And the winner of the World Youth Championship will bank £12,000.

Littler could therefore walk away with £132,000 in prize money and two titles from one gruelling evening’s work.

Explaining his decision, Littler said: “I’ll head to the World Youths and see everyone and have a bit of fun.

“I don’t think anyone is going to be my friend, but it’s 20 minutes up the road and I will try my best.

“I could have had the day off, but why not? Play the World Youth, then two ProTours in Wigan and have the weekend off.”
