MOTORISTS can expect huge traffic delays of up to 90 minutes following the closure of a major UK motorway after a collision.
The crash involved a lorry and van after a vehicle was stranded at Junction 3 on the northbound carriageway of the M18 in South Yorkshire.
Drivers travelling between Doncaster and Armthorpe can expect their journeys to be effected.
Pictures show the huge delays as traffic continues to pile up.
INRIX latest update at 9.28am read: “Long delays and one lane closed due to accident, a lorry and a van involved on M18 Northbound from J3 A6182 White Rose Way (St Catherines) to J4 A630 West Moor Link (West Moor).
“Congestion to J2. Travel time is around 40 minutes.”
National Highways traffic officers have now arrived at the scene.
In an update shared on X they said: “There are 30+ minute delays on the M18 northbound between J3 Doncaster and J4 Armthorpe.
“This is due to a reported collision from South Yorkshire Police.
“National Highways traffic officers have just arrived on scene. More updates to follow….”
