ON Married At First Sight UK tonight, a new couple were bound together in holy matrimony.
Abigail, a 34 year old dentist met her match in John, 38.

They appeared smitten at the altar and had a number of things in common.
Neither of the duo feels they have truly been in love, after each only having one long term relationship that ended on a sour note.
They also both have bubbly personalities, feel strongly about family values, and want to find “their person”.
In last night’s episode of MAFS UK, the couple’s wedding was teased, as well as some comments from Abigail’s highly protective mother.
At first it appeared she was just looking out for her daughter, speaking to the camera saying things any mother would say such as, “I don’t want to see her get hurt again.”
Her comments intensified, as she declared: “I am the one that vets everybody, I am the bad guy. Beware.”
But tonight Abigail’s mum took it a step further by confronting the groom head on, letting him know she means business.
“At first John seems approachable, but I am good at sussing people out in 5 minutes,” the mother said, as the group gathered.
The newly weds were sitting at the dinner table with members of Abigail’s family, when her mum started talking to John.
“I have been married now for 41 years and when I first met him [her husband] I knew it was for life.
“I just want that for Abi as well.”
She went on to intensely pile on the pressure by talking about her daughter’s past hurt in detail.
“The times I’ve spent with her crying on the sofa because she attracts the men that love themselves and seems to think that putting a woman down keeps them in place.
“And then the last thing I want for her is to be upset by some arrogant person that comes along.
“I don’t want that for Abigail.”
Abigail’s mother then went on to ask John if he would be willing to relocate for Abi, where saying no really wouldn’t have gone down well.
Viewers of the show branded the mother controlling, feeling she hadn’t even given John a chance to speak before giving him a list of demands.
“Quite surprised Abigail’s mum, didn’t jump in, and test out his kissing technique, before she let her daughter ‘have a go,” joked one user on X.
“This Abigail mother. Where is her 41 yr long suffering husband? Her mother walks her down the aisle and grills John,” and “So Abigail’s controlling mother has made it clear that John has to move to HER town – not a second thought about what they want or even what John’s parents might want. Horrid woman!,” said others.
Fans were also concerned about Abigail warning John that her mother “vets” her boyfriends.
“when Abigail said to John ‘my mum vets boyfriends’ why wasn’t that a red flag? This woman has been unleashed on an unsuspecting groom & it’s nowt to do with her!”.
It remains to be seen how the couple will get on, but there seemed to be sparks flying between them.
