Mariah Carey will headline a landmark concert in the heart of Brazil’s Amazon Rainforest on 17 September 2025.
The show, Amazônia Live, Today and Always, takes place on a floating stage on the Guamá River in Belém. The stage is designed to resemble the Victoria Amazonica, a symbolic local plant.
MARIAH CAREY AND THE CLIMATE CRISIS
This unique event aims to spotlight the urgent climate crisis and global efforts to protect the rainforest ahead of November’s COP30 climate conference hosted in Belém.
The concert will open with sets by local artists Dona Onete, Joelma, Gaby Amarantos, and Zaynara, showcasing Pará’s rich musical heritage.
DEFENDING INDIGENOUS PEOPLE
Organisers stress the need to protect the Amazon rainforest by defending indigenous peoples. There is also need to restore degraded lands, and promoting sustainable bioeconomy practices, according to Attitude.
The organisers will film the event and broadcast it nationally across Brazil, allowing millions to witness the spectacle.
“Mariah Carey’s performance shines a spotlight on the critical need to keep the forest standing,” said the concert’s organisers.
They emphasised that protecting the rainforest is key to reducing global carbon emissions.
MARIAH CAREY AND THE VANGUARD AWARD
This concert follows Carey’s recent honour as recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards.
Mariah Carey will release her new album Here For It All on 26 September, presenting it under the independent company Gamma.
She reflected to Forbes: “This next chapter is about owning my narrative and creating freely on my own terms.” The album marks her first full-length project since 2018.
ENVIRONMENTAL ADVOCACY
This event highlights the global interconnectedness of climate issues, bringing world-class music together with environmental advocacy.
The Amazon rainforest functions as the “lungs of the Earth,” crucial for stabilising climate worldwide, including southern Africa.
Tickets for the concert are not on sale, but a follow-up live event featuring Brazilian star Ivete Sangalo will take place at the Mangueirão stadium. It is expected to draw over 40,000 attendees.
MARIAH CAREY’S IMPACT
Mariah Carey’s rainforestside appearance promises to be one of her most unique and impactful performances to date.
The concert is a powerful reminder that cultural events can mobilise public support for vital environmental causes that affect us all.
