Married At First Sight bride breaks down in tears and threatens to quit as fans beg groom to ‘run’

MARRIED At First Sight bride Grace clashed again with husband Ashley and threatened to quit the process before the honeymoon.

It was clear to see that Grace was not happy with her experts pick when she met Ashley for the first time at the altar.

But viewers have hit out at Grace and begged Ashley to ‘run’

The midwife was so upset that she burst into tears away from her new husband.

Speaking to the camera after the wedding, a despondent Grace said: “I wouldn’t say he’s my type.”

Frustrated by the situation, Grace began to cry and was seen walking away from the camera.

She could be heard saying: “I don’t want to do this, sorry.”

Despite her concerns, she returned for the reception but again locked horns with Ashley after he admitted he wasn’t a feminist.

On tonight’s show, Grace questioned once again if she wanted to continue with the experiment after clashing with Ashley on his values.

Ashley told the camera: “I don’t feel like I really know Grace, it’s been 10 or 12 hours.”

Grace admitted to producers that she “didn’t know if she was coming or going at the wedding” and was still feeling overwhelmed.

“Ashley and I aren’t aligning on certain values in terms of… he perhaps more old fashioned and I’m more liberal.”

Despite this, Grace admitted she was feeling more positive about the situation but that doesn’t last long.

They received an envelope, which revealed they were going to Ko Samui in Thailand for their honeymoon.

Ashley then gave her a compliment and said he respected her more for not sleeping with him on the first night.

But a furious Grace asked if it would be an issue if she had wanted to sleep with him on the first night.

He explained: “Old school morals and people that respect themselves, that’s what I asked for and it is quite important to me.”

But she called him out on having “double standards”.

Ashley told the camera: “I’m taken back a bit, I don’t know why it went to that when I was giving her a compliment.”

But away from Ashley, she broke down in tears and said: “I’m just a bit concerned that Ashley might be set in his ways and opinions of women and I naively thought it would be more aligned. It’s really important to me.”

She then debated: “I feel like I shouldn’t go, am I stupid to go [on the honeymoon]?”

Grace was then triggered again when Ashley told her he wanted a “tomboy barbie”, which prompted her to hit out at him for being offensive.

Viewers were left confused by Grace’s reaction saying “Ashley can’t win either way”.

One wrote: “Nothing is ever going to please Grace. Ashley rest, you won’t win this one.”

A second posted: “Poor Ashley I feel bad for him. He can’t be himself Grace is all about herself she’s soo selfish. She doesn’t understand you both have to put the work in. She’s just all about Grace, Grace, how does Ashley have patience.”

A third commented: “Grace is honestly not normal. Run Ashley!!”

Another added: “Ashley needs to run for the hills. She nitpicks absolutely EVERYTHING and it’s draining. The guy can’t do anything right in Grace’s books, this is doomed from the start. Poor man.”

BRIDE WARS

Elsewhere tonight, E4 viewers were introduced to new couple Leah and Leigh.

Leah nervously waited at the altar for her bride, but was met with a frosty reception from Leigh.

Leigh admitted she wasn’t sure if she fancied Leah and believed she lacked “a masculine side “, which was one of her requests to experts.

She was then got her back up when Leah called one of her crystals a “stone” – leaving Leigh questioning how spiritual she is.

Leigh said away from her new wife: “I’m a bit apprehensive, she’s not what I normally go for, I think I’ve made a mistake.”

She then refused to give her new wife a kiss, but reluctantly accepted a peck on the cheek.

Speaking to the camera after the ceremony, Leah: “I don’t know if she fancies me or not.”

Meanwhile, Leigh has second thoughts and tells the producers: “F***, I made a mistake, s***.”

Things became even more uncomfortable after the photographer tried to get the pair to kiss while posing for their wedding snaps.

But Leigh fired back and said: “No, it’s a bit much.”

After the photographer asked the couple to lean in and kiss, Leigh fumed: “No, it’s even weirder, the push. You’ve asked five times now.”

Leah exclaimed: “She’s fiery!”

Speaking away from Leigh, she said: “I got a little bit of a shock, Leigh has definitely got a fiery side.”

Mafs couples that have stood the test of time

Loved-up Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling of series six fame had the first Mafs baby.

The pair couldn’t keep their hands off each other on the programme and quickly found their feet in the outside world, moving into Adam’s Doncaster home.

Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter Beau.

Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.

Teacher Michelle, 29, has no regrets about taking part in the experiment. She told us: “I just feel very lucky and thankful that it has worked out – and excited for everything to come.”

Michelle and Owen were both sick of dating apps when they applied in 2019.

Owen recalled: “I had been out for some drinks with a friend after work.

“While he was out for a cigarette I was scrolling on Instagram waiting for him to come back in.

“The MAFS advert was the last thing I saw, and I joked, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if I signed up?’

“A few beers later when I was back at home I sent in the application, and the rest is history.”

Another couple to make Mafs UK history is Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson.

Despite a slight rocky start, where they clashed over Jenna’s vegan lifestyle, the show’s first same sex pairing are still going strong.

They even have a successful podcast together called Life With a Pod.

Jenna shed light on being involved in the show earlier this year when she told us: “We’re not legally married, and I never felt like we were. I definitely feel the process makes you take the relationship a lot more seriously and having the help of the experts… if you can survive that process it sets a firm foundation for a long-lasting relationship.”
