Married At First Sight forced into major schedule shake-up as it avoids going head-to-head with BBC hit

MARRIED At First Sight has been forced into a major schedule shake-up in order to avoid a direct clash with a major BBC show.

The E4 reality series has kicked off its first week with an explosive set of weddings and honeymoons with plenty of drama still to come.

But the show will soon be moving timeslots in order to avoid a clash with one of the most hotly-anticipated series of the year.

From Wednesday 8 October, episodes of MAFS will be brought forward by one hour to begin at 8pm.

Bosses have taken this decision to avoid a clash with the launch episode of the BBC‘s Celebrity Traitors.

Celebrity Traitors is currently scheduled to air from 9pm every Wednesday and Thursday on BBC One.

As a result, for the rest of October, all Wednesday and Thursday episodes of MAFS will begin at 8pm.

It means there are likely to be some cuts to the episodes as a result of it being aired before the watershed with bosses having likely to be forced to remove swearing and any of the more racier, sexual challenges the couples find themselves participating in.

At present, the show airs Sunday-Thursday at 9pm but it will only remain like this for one further week.

Celebrity Traitors will kick off on October 8 at 9pm with Claudia Winkleman back in the driving seat.

A first-look at the show has already been revealed and has promised plenty of twists and turns.

The trailer begins by showing famous faces including Alan Carr and Stephen Fry sitting in a fancy room with glasses of wine.

They share their inner monologues in a voice over looking at the camera, as if they won’t speak out loud to reveal any secrets.

“Maybe I have got a dark side,” says Alan.

“I don’t know what beast lies within me,” says Stephen.

The opening episode is expected to run for a total of 70 minutes.

Joining Claudia in the Scottish Highlands for The Celebrity Traitors are a whole host of beloved celebrities.

The stars include: Alan Carr, Cat Burns, Celia Imrie, Charlotte ChurchClare Balding, David Olusoga, Joe Marler, and Joe Wilkinson.

As well as: Jonathan RossKate GarrawayLucy Beaumont, Mark Bonnar, Nick Mohammed, Niko Omilana, Paloma Faith, Ruth Codd, Stephen FryTameka Empson and Tom Daley.
