THIS is the shocking moment a rampaging knifeman is confronted by a brave bystander holding shopping bags.

The courageous pedestrian shouts “stop, stop” as others pile into the terrifying daylight brawl on a busy road in Brixton, south London.

Footage taken by one of the drivers initially shows a group of hooded youths squaring up to one another yesterday afternoon.

Horrified bystanders waiting at the bus stop on Acre Lane watch on as one of the thugs appears to pull out a knife.

The knifeman then sprints after his rival, waving his blade as he chases him down the pavement.

A woman behind the camera can be heard saying “oh my god, oh no no”, as the target tumbles to the floor.

Seconds later, another man swoops in and stands between the attacker and his intended victim.

But he is then chased by the knife-wielding youth as the pair run between cars on the road.

Screams can be heard from the women in the car as both men disappear from view.

As the camera pans to the side-view mirror, the brave shopper is shown charging towards the group.

They are shown raising their blue carrier bags as they attempt to intervene in the brawl.

Cops confirmed two teenagers suffered stab wounds during the altercation, with one rushed to hospital.

Reacting to the scary footage on social media, some called on London Mayor Sadiq Khan to “take more action” against knife crime.

One likened the scenes to something out of The Hunger Games, a dystopian novel and film in which competitors fight to the death.


They said: “Ooo look .. Hunger Games London and I don’t have to have pay-per-view.

“Feral Scumbags gutting each other on the streets of London.”

Another continued: “That is not the London I grew up in.

“It has become a 3rd world country of street crime and disorder. It angers me to see it.”

A third added: @MayorofLondon @metpoliceuk please fix this before its too late.

“The UK is an inclusive & tolerant country and people who abuse the system have no place in the UK.

“How can we bring up our kids in this environment?”

The Met confirmed a probe was ongoing into the shocking incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Police were called at 17.01hrs on Tuesday, 23 September to reports of an altercation involving an knife.

“Two teenage boys, both aged 16, sustained injuries.

“One was taken to hospital with a stab wound, his condition was deemed not life-threatening or life-changing.

“The other suffered a minor injury and did not require further medical treatment.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.

It comes as shocking footage showed a teenager storming a college classroom with a machete, before slashing at pupils.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested following the “terrifying” knife incident.

The teen was suspected of possessing an offensive weapon on his college campus yesterday afternoon.

Warwickshire Police have described the shocking events as “terrifying” for those involved.
