Moment nursery worker vapes as she leans over cots where she kicked & punched 21 babies while high on cannabis

THIS is the chilling moment an evil nursery worker vapes over cots.

Roksana Lecka – who attacked 21 babies, kicking and punching the defenceless infants while high on cannabis – was today jailed for eight years.

In the CCTV footage, from the Baby Sleep Room, the 22-year-old thug can be seen puffing on her vape in near darkness – with at least one child sleeping nearby.

Her back is to the camera for much of the video, but as it ends she suddenly turns to peer into a bed.

Parents of the babies who were abused have condemned Lecka’s “sickening” crimes at Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, south west London, and branded her the “worst kind of human”.

She was found guilty of 14 counts of child cruelty after previously admitting seven charges.

Judge Sarah Plaschkes KC told the defendant at Kingston Crown Court on Friday afternoon: “You committed multiple acts of gratuitous violence.

“You pinched, slapped, punched, smacked and kicked them. You pulled their ears, hair and their toes. You toppled children headfirst into cots. You caused bruising and lingering red marks.

“When you committed these acts of cruelty you would look at the other members of staff to make sure that they were not watching you.

“Often the child would be quietly and happily minding its own business before you deliberately inflicted pain causing the child to cry, arch, try to get away or writhe around in distress.

“Time after time you calmly watched the pain and suffering you have caused. Your criminal conduct can properly be characterised as sadistic.”

Other footage, released by the Met Police following Lecka’s sentencing, shows her police interview in which a detective asks her “am I boring you?” as she reads out information on the case.

The nursery, which charges up to £1,900 a month to look after children aged up to two years, follows the Montessori method of teaching.

Separate footage shows the nursery worker sat in her interview answering “no comment” to every question.

She also fails to show any emotion when shown pictures of the horror injuries she inflicted on the children.

The court heard there were no apparent safeguarding issues when Lecka was hired.

But last summer, CCTV of the baby room appeared to show the worker pinch a child – leaving them with red marks.

In footage played to the court, Lecka could also be seen pinching the legs, back and under arm of a girl who can be seen crying.

Further footage showed her pinching the side of a girl’s face and grabbing her hair.

In her evidence, Lecka told the court she would “smoke cannabis quite regularly with my boyfriend”.

She told a court she would be moody if she could not vape at work[/caption]

She said: “At that time I was really addicted to vapes, I would smoke two little crystal disposables a day.

“I was vaping in nursery. Because if I did not smoke I would get agitated and fed up. I couldn’t keep asking to go to the toilet. Any opportunity I would take. I would be really moody and fed up.

“It would be a couple of puffs and then I’d put it away… I would put it in my bra.”

She also told the court how she was “so tired” at the time and was not getting any sleep.

‘Addicted’ to her boyfriend

Lecka claimed she was “addicted” to her boyfriend so was “over-prioritising” him.

Her lawyer also claimed she was “worn out, had bad period pains, was short of energy, she was not her normally bubbly self”.

But prosecutor Tracy Ayling KC told jurors that smoking cannabis and not being able to vape were “excuses” for the alleged offences.

She added: “It is clear her actions are deliberate or at the very last careless, but on most occasions we say deliberate.

“There are, of course, some clips where Ms Lecka – as we put it – keeps going back for more.”

Met officers were called to a nursery in Twickenham in June 2024, following concerns from members of staff about Lecka’s behaviour.

As enquiries unfolded, it was revealed that Lecka had been abusing children while working at two separate nurseries between October 2023 and June 2024.

Cops reviewed over 300 hours of CCTV footage within 10 days.

Lecka was arrested on July 5 last year and said in a prepared statement: “I deny assaulting any children at the Riverside Nursery…I went into work that day and had a normal day. There were no accidents where any child seemed hurt.

“We have procedures for the handling of the children, which I adhered to. I am unaware how any injury to these children were caused.”

Lecka admitted two charges of child cruelty but denied 21 further offences.

Detective Inspector Sian Hutchings of Met Police’s Public Protection Command said: “Today’s sentencing concludes a complex and emotional investigation.

“The victims in this case are just babies, with the youngest being just 10 months at the time of the offences.”

“Something which our officers have found shocking throughout this investigation is Roksana’s lack of accountability and her inability to explain her unjustifiable actions.

“As a result of the hard work from our dedicated investigation team and our partners, this woman will no longer be able to harm children.”
