Orlando Pirates are set to return to what is fast becoming their second home in Spain for pre-season next season.
Pirates have spent their last three pre-seasons under former coach Jose Riveiro in Spain and will continue with that pattern.
Pirates return to Spain for pre-season
Last season Pirates played some top opposition in Spain including Sevilla and Granada of Spain. They then also took on Plymouth of England among others. Now having been enjoying the facilities in the country in the yesteryears, they have decided to return. This time around they will be playing against both fresh and familiar opposition from the previous visits.
Taking to their official X account, Pirates confirmed fixtures against English side Bolton Wanderers and Pafos FC of Cyprus. They will then also take on familiar opposition in Granada FC and UD Las Palmas FC.

#OnceAlways” Pirates posted on their X account.
Their first game will be played against Bolton, a historic English side that has slipped down the divisions over time. This game represents a pattern after another lower league English side in Plymouth was included last season. Pirates will then play Cyprus champions Pafos just two days later. They will then finish off their tour with two Spanish sides in Las Palmas on the 17th of July as well as Granada just two days later.
Mokwena to be on tour?
It remains to be seen if Pirates would’ve appointed their new coach ahead of this tour to Spain. This publication has recently reported that they’re in advanced talks to re-appoint former coach Rulani Mokwena ahead of nexts season.
