Orlando Pirates left-back Deon Hotto‘s performance against Mamelodi Sundowns left the club’s supporters angry.
Despite the Buccaneers winning 4-1 on penalties in the MTN8 semi-final, some Bucs fans felt Hotto was the weak link. The Namibian attacker redeemed himself later by scoring from the spot during a shoot-out.
Having played mostly as a left-wing under new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou, the veteran attacker has been mostly used as a left-back this season. He has often found himself in good spaces when attacking the opposition, but his decision-making has let him down.
What are Pirates fans saying about Deon Hotto?
@ThulaniMalebana wrote: “Hotto is a damn hard worker but he just lacks composure and football intelligence. He tried to kill the keeper, instead of just placing the ball far post or chipping the keeper. At the grassroots level, such misses are first punished, then worked on in training.”
@Mdange_KaTshiw wrote: “Deon Hotto is not a footballer… Yhooo! I wash my hands… yhuuu.”
@lwazi_thandoe wrote: “I am now 100% convinced that Deon Hotto is doing all these things on purpose. No ways one man can be such ass.”
@Ncedo09270701 wrote: “Hotto will play the full match as we don’t really have an option on the bench to replace him.”
