Orlando Pirates‘ first pre-season friendly in Spain for their new season’s preparations has been confirmed.
The Buccaneers will face English League One outfit Bolton Wanderers in one of their friendly matches that side.
This encounter against Bolton Wanderers will take place on Friday, July 11 at the Marbella Football Centre, the English club confirmed in a statement.
Kick-off is at 11 SA time.
Bolton Wanderers are the same team that saw two Bafana Bafana legends in Mark Fish and Quinton Fortune play for.
The South African reported a few weeks ago that Pirates will be returning to Spain for the third year in a row.
Pirates first had an experience of Spanish facilities in 2023 under Jose Riveiro and again in 2024 under the same coach.
And it came as no surprise given that Riveiro wanted to, at least, spend some time with his family during the off-season.
Now, it appears the entire Pirates hierarchy is pleased with the rewards reaped by the team from spending time in Spain.
Meanwhile, it remains a mystery as to who their head coach will be for the upcoming season but Mandla Ncikazi remains in charge on an interim basis.
