Orlando Pirates confirmed the signing of Polokwane City’s Oswin Appollis last week, a move that has intensified speculation about Relebohile Mofokeng’s future. With clubs across the globe circling, it’s starting to feel like a matter of “when” rather than “if” for the young star.
Late last year Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos predicted that the 2024/25 campaign would be Mofokeng’s last with Orlando Pirates, a belief that the player’s father hopes will become reality.
“My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I’m praying every day. I don’t want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,” Sechaba said.

Rapoo wanted by two giants
At the same time, Orlando Pirates are reportedly in a tug-of-war with Kaizer Chiefs for Neo Rapoo. The SuperSport full-back has impressed at youth level and is now seen as one of the most promising defensive prospects in the country.
It’s unclear where he’ll end up — but if Mofokeng leaves and Rapoo joins, it’s clear the Buccaneers are planning for the next generation.
