Orlando Pirates: Ouaddou sets sights on free agent Sipho Mbule?

Newly named Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has previously expressed his interest in signing former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sipho Mbule.

The 27-year-old is now a free agent after parting ways with Masandawana. Last season, he was on loan from Sekhukhune United, but the midfielder violated the club’s code of conduct and was immediately put on ice.

Although the ex-Downs man has options, his ideal dream is to play for either Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates next season.

Will Ouaddou convince Pirates management to sign Mbule?

The Buccanners announced Ouaddou as their new coach on Monday after months of speculation. The Moroccan resigned from his job as head coach of Marumo Gallants earlier this month. During his interview with Robert Marawa on MSW, the 46-year-old coach praised Sundowns’ Neo Maema and Mbule.

“I like very much Maeme from Mamelodi Sundowns very much. He is a top player, a fantastic player. If the team (Marumo Gallants) can afford him, I’ll be pleased to have him. And one other player I love about his style of play and I know that his behaviour is not so good, but I think it’s a question of management,” Ouaddou said earlier this month.

Mbule could be Ouaddou’s first signing at Pirates

“These players need management, somebody to close to them, to understand that they are good players, but they have to manage their lifestyles. Mbule is a fantastic, he is the kind of player I would like to have in my team,” said new Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Mbule has been linked to Chiefs for months but his agent, Mike Makaab, confirmed that the midfielder has not held talks with the Soweto giants.

“I don’t know where the talks that Sipho Mbule is going to Kaizer Chiefs are coming from. All I can tell you is that the rumours are not true,” Makaab said, according to FARPost.
