Orlando Pirates playmaker Karim Kimvuidi has attracted attention from Algerian giants JS Kabylie.
The DR Congo international has spent the past two seasons with the Buccaneers, joining the Soweto club from Maritzburg United, now known as Durban City FC, after their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Kimvuidi signed for Pirates at the start of the 2023/2024 season, aiming to establish himself in one of South Africa’s top clubs.
Struggles for game time at Pirates
In his first season in black and white, Kimvuidi made eight starts in 22 matches across all competitions, managing to score two goals.
However, his second campaign brought fewer opportunities. Despite featuring in 15 matches, the midfielder only started twice and found the net once.
Sources indicate that JS Kabylie have shown interest in the 22-year-old but remain reluctant to pay a significant transfer fee. It’s currently unclear whether they will approach Orlando Pirates with a formal offer.
The Bucs restructure squad
As preparations ramp up for the upcoming season, Orlando Pirates have released several senior players while welcoming new arrivals to Mayfair.
The club opted not to renew the contract of long-serving skipper Innocent Maela. According to a source, “He’s been offered a non-playing role within the club.” Maela recently took part in welcoming the latest signings, joining Buccaneers legends such as Lucky Lekgwathi, Happy Jele, Tebogo Moloi, Edward Motale, and Brighton Mhlongo in the club’s induction process.
Departures: Timm, Mako, and Monyane move on
Midfielder Miguel Timm, who spent three seasons at the club, also bid farewell to Pirates. Reports link him with a possible move to Sekhukhune United.
In a double blow, the Buccaneers also parted ways with Paseka Mako and Thabo Monyane, both of whom have already been unveiled by Kaizer Chiefs as new signings.
Where will the Orlando Pirates star Kimvuidi land?
