Miguel Timm, Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako are all no longer Orlando Pirates players. That means some squad numbers are up for grabs.
Monyane and Mako were released as the club looks to upgrade in the full-back department.

Paseka Mako, Miguel Timm and Thabiso Monyane are no longer with the Sea Robbers. As a result, numbers 29, 4 and 2 are available to be handed to new signings. Most Buccaneers fans will remember that jersey number 4 once belonged to the great Happy Jele. Who’s got big enough footsteps to fill it next?
Mako is in talks with Kaizer Chiefs
According to SABC Sport, 31-year-old Paseka Mako is in advanced talks with Kaizer Chiefs over a winter move. Stellenbosch full-back Fawaaz Basadien was initially their first choice. However, the Winelands club is reluctant to sell the Bafana man, whom they see as an indispensable member of their squad. It’s somewhat of a surprise that Pirates let go of Mako. The nifty left-back made 26 appearances in the 2024-2025 campaign. Meanwhile, 34-year-old Deon Hotto faces an uncertain long-term future.
Could Rulani return?
Former Sundowns manager Rulani Mokwena has vacated his post as head coach of Wydad AC. The 38-year-old has been strongly linked with a return to Orlando Pirates, and Rulani isn’t doing much to quell those rumours. He served as Josef Zinnbauer’s assistant in the 2019-2020 campaign.
