Oti Mabuse lands huge new Strictly job three years after quitting show

OTI Mabuse has landed a huge new Strictly job, three years after quitting the show.

Glamorous star Oti, 35 — who has been a panellist on The Masked Dancer and starred on last year’s I’m A Celebrity — had also been a judge on ITV skating contest Dancing On Ice until it was shelved in March.

And she kept her hand in at Strictly in recent years by helping plan routines, after stepping away from the show as a pro.

Now, it’s been revealed that the mum-of-one will be joining the Dancing With The Stars judging panel.

The show is Ireland’s version of Strictly Come Dancing, and airs on RTE One on Sundays.

Looking as glam as ever in a sparkly silver dress, the talented star took to Instagram to announce her new role.

She said: “Hi guys, I’m Oti Mabuse, and I am the new Head Judge of Dancing With The Stars.

“I am so excited to be here and I cannot wait to get going. We’re going to dance!”

Oti says she thinks she’ll bring “fun, loudness and being up for a good time” to the judging panel.

She added: “I do love seeing dances and really traditional, Latin and ballroom dancing, it wouldn’t hurt to have a little bit of fun with it.”

The star said she’ll be an “emotionally technical judge,” and added: “I love when somebody works hard and starts from scratch and gets the basics correct.

“I am looking for the techniques, but more so I want to know how you’re going to make me feel.”

Oti’s sister Motsi, who is on the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel, commented: “Head judge let’s go ❤❤❤ sight seeing Ireland 🇮🇪 on the bucket list.”

Love Island star Ekin-Su penned: “The best woman ! 😍 so beautiful.”

And Tasha Ghouri wrote: “Yessss,” followed by a string of heart emojis.

Fans flooded the comments too, to say how excited they were that Oti will be on the panel.

South African-born Oti announced her departure from Strictly in February 2022 after seven years as a professional dancer on the show.

She won the 2019 series with actor Kelvin Fletcher and triumphed again a year later with comedian Bill Bailey.

In an Instagram post revealing she was stepping down, she said: “Never easy to say goodbye.

“I have been part of the most amazing TV show, Strictly Come Dancing, for the past seven years and it has been an incredible time.

“Lifting the Glitterball twice and having the best journey with all my celebrities, but also meeting and working with the best team.

“You are my family and I adore you all forever.”

At the time, the Beeb said of her decision to leave: “Oti has been a truly wonderful part of Strictly.

“Her energy, creativity and talent have contributed to so many of the show’s most memorable moments and she will be hugely missed, not only by viewers, but the entire team.

“She leaves a dazzling legacy behind her as the only professional dancer to lift the Glitterball trophy in two consecutive years.

“She will always be at the very heart of our Strictly family.”
