Ouaddou says Pirates allowed Sundowns to escape

The Betway Premiership‘s biggest challengers, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, delivered an absorbing 1-1 draw at the Loftus Versfeld on Saturday afternoon.

According to Pirates coach Ouaddou, the Sea Robbers simply let Kabo Yellow get off the hook.

CEMRAN DANSIN STANDS MAKES A NAME

Pirates youngster Cemran Dansin scored a worldie in the 35th minute to cancel out Peter Shalulile‘s 21st-minute opener for Sundowns.

Dansin’s left-footed screamer was his first-ever professional goal in what was only his second start. The 20-year-old from Johannesburg was given his professional debut late last season by former Pirates coach Jose Riveiro.

ABDESLAM OUADDOU FEELS ORLANDO PIRATES HAD THE THREE POINTS IN THEIR HANDS

“To be honest, I think it’s a game that we should have won, based on the physiognomy of the match, and the number of chances we created, and today I think, to be honest, it should have been a victory for Orlando Pirates,” the former AS Vita and Marumo Gallants coach told journalists.

“But let’s go with this point, let’s not be too tough on our boys, they did well and let’s go and fight in the next games that we have in hand, and let’s go and take the lead on the log [table],” he added.

The French-Moroccan mentor admitted that every match brings its own challenges and dismissed the idea that Orlando Pirates had gained a psychological edge over the champions.

He concluded by saying the battle was a stunner, and the next encounter could be entirely different.
