Police in Gauteng are searching for about ten suspects after a deadly tavern shooting left five people dead and three injured in Shoba Informal Settlement in Olievehoutbosch, Pretoria.
The attack occurred on Friday, 18 July 2025, at around 22h30.
Attack Without Warning
According to South African Police Service reports, the suspects entered the tavern and opened fire without saying a word.
The victims include two women and three men. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
Police have opened cases of murder and attempted murder as part of their investigation.
They are appealing to the public for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.
Call for Information
Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo urged anyone with information that could aid the investigation or help arrest the suspects to contact their nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
