Popular DStv channels to be removed from 1 January 2026?

MultiChoice has announced that several Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) channels may be removed from DStv from 1 January 2026, as the companies have yet to reach a new distribution agreement.

The news was conveyed to customers on Monday evening.

The current agreement between the broadcaster and WBD expires on 31 December 2025.

‘No deal finalised’

While discussions are ongoing, MultiChoice confirmed that with just a month to go, no deal has been finalised, raising the possibility that popular WBD channels – which include entertainment, lifestyle, kids’ and documentary offerings – could disappear from the platform at the start of next year.

In a statement, MultiChoice emphasised its commitment to value and customer trust.

“Every time you subscribe, you trust us with your money, and we take that responsibility seriously,” the company said.

Reassured customers

MultiChoice reassured customers that DStv already carries a wide range of local and international content across all genres, and that the platform is preparing to expand its line-up in 2026 with new channels, services, and content offerings.

“What matters most is ensuring that your viewing experience remains rich, diverse, and enjoyable,” the broadcaster noted, adding that subscribers will continue to have “strong alternative channels across every genre” even if WBD content is removed.

Customers with queries are encouraged to contact MultiChoice’s customer care team or visit the company’s website for further updates.

The broadcaster thanked subscribers for their ongoing support, stating: “We care deeply about delivering the best value for you and your family.”

The specific channels at risk of removal are reported to be:

  • Discovery Channel
  • TLC
  • Discovery Family
  • Real Time
  • TNT Africa
  • Food Network
  • HGTV
  • Travel Channel
  • Investigation Discovery (ID)
  • Cartoon Network
  • Cartoonito
  • CNN International
