ITHUBA, operators of the National Lottery in South Africa, have confirmed that there was one jackpot winner from PowerBall draw number 1639, held on Tuesday, 5 August.
The lucky player bagged a massive R124 602 697.30.
The winning ticket was purchased via the Absa banking app, with a R37.50 wager, and the participant selected their numbers manually.
Several other winners
In addition to the jackpot winner, the draw produced several other winners across divisions.
Seven players matched five numbers and each walked away with over R115 000 in Division 2, while 49 other participants each won over R10 000 in Division 3.
These winners purchased their tickets through a variety of convenient platforms, including in-store retailers, banking apps of various banks, the National Lottery website, the official mobile app, and USSD.
The jackpot winner is expected to make contact with ITHUBA soon, as banks notify winners of their winnings automatically.
