President Ramaphosa brags about Springboks, gives away supporter shirts

President Cyril Ramaphosa has used his visit to Japan to brag about the Springboks and their record-breaking World Cup victories. He’s also handed out numerous supporter T-shirts to the country that is the second home to many South African rugby players.

The 72-year-old has wrapped up his trip attending the Tokyo International Conference on African Development over the weekend.

PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA BRAGS ABOUT WORLD CHAMPIONS

In several TikTok clips posted by Head of Digital Communications in the Presidency, Athi Geleba, Cyril Ramaphosa was seen bragging about the Springboks to various Japanese dignitaries. During his trip, Ramaphosa also gave away many Springbok supporter shirts. 

Japan has shown a growing interest in rugby, particularly after hosting the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

In one clip, Ramaphosa holds up the shirt, as he says to an official: “This is a token of remembrance from the Springboks…and you know, of course, we are the World Champions. Don’t forget that one. Four times”

Japan is the second home for many Springbok players who play in the country at club level.
