The founders of the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation have condemned nasty comments by trolls towards June Steenkamp, who suffered a stroke this week.
The Port Elizabeth woman is the mother of the model who was murdered by Oscar Pistorius in 2014.
Her health setback comes amid the second anniversary of her husband, Barry’s death. According to loved ones, Barry “died of a broken heart” after his daughter’s gruesome murder.
Last year, Pistoris was released on parole after serving half of his sentence.
REEVA STEENKAMP FOUNDATION WARNS TROLLS
In a message posted on its social media platforms, the administrators of the Reeva Steenkamp foundation thanked the public for their support after sharing news of June Steenkamp’s stroke this week.
“She has always said one of the things that carried her was the love and support she received from friends and strangers alike. I pray that she will soon be in a position to read them herself”, read the message.
The foundation – which helps victims of gender-based violence – also sent a warning to those who had mercilessly trolled June amid her health setback.
“Whilst we acknowledge everyone has a right to their opinion, this is not the forum to express a dislike or launch a personal attack against June. The Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation stands against ALL forms of abuse. I have blocked those who clearly don’t belong on this page, and will continue to do so.”
It added: “Strangely, June would have disagreed, and tell me those people are probably fighting their own battles and need our prayers. She is a better person than I am”.
#guardianangels😇 Thank you for the kind and thoughtful messages for June. She has always said one of the things that…
