Shane Lowry held back by caddie in furious bust-up with heckling US fan as Ryder Cup descends into chaos

SHANE LOWRY had to be held back by his caddie as the bloodbath at Bethpage spiralled into chaos.

The Irishman was enraged on the tenth hole after yet more X-rated heckling by pumped-up US fans.

A number of supporters have already been kicked out of the course throughout their afternoon four-balls.

And it went too far again on the back nine, as the New York crowd tried to get under Europe’s skin.

Lowry was playing alongside Rory McIlroy against the US pair of Justin Thomas and Cameron Young.

He was teeing off on the tenth hole, and preparing to take his shot.

However, crowds around him refused to be quiet at Bethpage Black, New York.

Thomas then even attempted to calm the fans down around him.

They stayed quiet for his shot, but the boos continued for playing partner McIlroy.

The Masters champion crunched his drive down the middle of the fairway.

However, Lowry immediately started marching towards the crowd beside the tee box.

He pointedly angrily and was clearly furiously with a certain individual in a white cap.

His caddie Darren Reynolds put his arm across Lowry’s front to stop him going any closer or engaging in the conflict.

But while Lowry stopped, he demanded the fan was ejected.

The man was led away by New York State police – prompting chants of “let him stay”.

Earlier, there had been drama on the fourth hole, when Lowry shouted “f*** off” towards a abusive fan.
