Siya Kolisi closes gap in most Tests as Springbok captain list

Siya Kolisi will lead the Springboks into battle against the All Blacks in Wellington on Saturday, 13 September.

Kick-off is at 09:05 (SA time).

Despite playing in last Saturday’s match at Eden Park in Auckland, Kolisi wasn’t the skipper.

That honour fell to centre Jesse Kriel – for the third time.

However, Kriel wasn’t part of the 23-man squad named by coach Rassie Erasmus for this weekend’s clash at Sky Stadium in New Zealand’s capital.

Instead, Kolisi will lead the Springboks for the 64th occasion.

Former hooker John Smit still leads the way with 83 Tests as skipper of the Springboks.

Players to have captained the Springboks on 10 or more occasions

Meanwhile, the Springboks will have a Georgian referee in charge of their second Rugby Championship Test against New Zealand in Wellington.
