SOUTH AFRICA have been stripped three points for fielding an ineligible player in a World Cup qualifier.
That led to Hugo Broos’s side dropping to SECOND place in their group.

Bafana Bafana played midfielder Teboho Mokoena in the 2-0 win over Lesotho in March.
That was while Mokoena was suspended after picking up a second yellow card.
Now Fifa‘s disciplinary committee has confirmed the result has been switched to a 3-0 win for Lesotho, in line with competition rules.
South Africa had been top of their group, three points clear of Benin and a further three in front of Nigeria, with two games left to play next month.
But the changed result means a negative change of five goals in addition to the points.
That puts Benin, who have away trips to Rwanda and Nigeria, on top by a single goal.
The group winners qualify but only the best four runners-up play off in November for the right to compete in the final inter-continental play-offs in March.
Meanwhile, England are set to return to international duty on October 9.

That is when the Three Lions will host Wales for a friendly at Wembley Stadium.
Thomas Tuchel‘s men will then visit Latvia on October 14 for their next World Cup qualifier.
The Three Lions are top of Group K after winning all five of their qualifiers.
If England win in Riga then they will confirm their place in the 2026 World Cup.
