Springboks keen to upend France in Paris AGAIN!

Springbok assistant coach Felix Jones says returning to Paris brings fond memories but insists the team’s focus remains firmly on France.

SOUTH AFRICA NOT DWELLING ON THE PAST

He explained that the Springboks have always enjoyed the culture and environment in France, especially after previous visits in 2022 and 2023. Jones said the team learned valuable lessons from past encounters and now aims to give themselves the best possible chance this weekend.

He acknowledged the attention surrounding the fixture but maintained that every Test match carries equal importance for the Springboks’ campaign.

He added that the Springboks respect France’s quality and depth, particularly their formidable forward pack and dynamic front-row options.

“We know their pack is powerful, with great depth,” Jones explained, adding that the Boks expect another intense battle upfront. Jones praised French players Nolann Le Garrec and Maxime Lucu, describing both as world-class talents capable of influencing France’s attacking rhythm.

SPRINGBOKS BUILDING DEPTH AT A RAPID RATE

The coach also addressed South Africa’s rotation policy, saying it ensures competitiveness, engagement, and fairness among all squad members throughout the season.

“We prefer to rotate, not drop players,” he said, emphasising that it keeps the group fresh and builds squad depth simultaneously.

Jones said the system prevents burnout in a long season and allows emerging players to gain crucial Test experience. He explained that the approach also maintains high standards, as every player knows opportunities come through consistency and commitment to team systems.

JONES FULL OF PRAISE FOR NTLABAKANYE

Discussing the arrival Asenathi Ntlabakanye, Jones praised the prop’s dynamism, skill and intelligence, calling him “a brilliant rugby player with great potential.”

He noted Ntlabakanye’s strong performance for the Barbarians at Twickenham and said his versatility would strengthen the squad immediately.

Looking ahead, Jones said preparation against France required detailed analysis despite limited recent footage of their likely lineup. He explained that the coaching staff closely monitor the Top 14 and European competitions to assess form and tactical developments.

Jones concluded that the Springboks respect France’s depth but remain determined to impose their own standards and intensity in Paris.
