Springboks: When team will be named, kick off time at Twickenham

The Springboks are in a prime position to retain the Rugby Championship title, needing just a victory over Argentina at Twickenham to ensure they walk away with the trophy for a second successive year.

There are some injury concerns after Cheslin Kolbe (shoulder), Damian Willemse (hamstring) and Ethan Hooker (ankle) had to be replaced at Kings Park on Saturday, and so it will be interesting to see what changes may be needed.

“It takes time to swap people in and out and have them play in sync – but we also know how quickly that can change so we won’t get carried away,” said Rassie Erasmus.

“We want to build an understanding within the squad so that when we make changes it doesn’t affect our play. But we’ve won nothing yet in this Rugby Championship; we’ve had one win and one loss against New Zealand and Australia, and we know how tough Argentina are.

No room for error as Springboks head into ‘rematch’ against Argentina

As the Springboks prepare for Saturday’s rematch, it’s been confirmed that the team will be named around 15:15 (SA time) on Tuesday.

The game itself will kick off 15:00 (SA time) on Saturday in a match which will decide the title as the Wallabies and All Blacks will play earlier in the day (11:45 kick off SA time).

On track for another memorable achievement

Speaking after Saturday’s resounding win over Argentina, Siya Kolisi said it was special to have seen an emerging maturity within the group.

“What stood out for me was that I saw so many guys come out of their shells today. We believe in shared leadership – there is not one leader – and when we made a mistake it wasn’t just one voice changing something.

“We had more experienced guys listening to guys who don’t even have a double figure number of caps – and that’s what makes our team special.”
