Alex wed her television producer husband Jonathan Stamp back in 2015.
Previously, she had tied the knot with fellow actor Ralph Fiennes and German journalist Florian Haertel.
As her Strictly journey begins, Alex reflected on two failed adoptions while married to Florian.
The former couple welcomed their biological daughter Salome in 2001, but they split in 2009.
Alex told The Times: “The second marriage was a success up to a point.
“I think that trying to have more children through in vitro … and then we went through the adoption process twice and had two spectacular fails.”
Asked whether the birth mothers had changed their minds, Alex answered: “Yes, sort of.
“Sort of took the money and ran. I think that really took its toll.
“But the man that I’m married to now is the right man for me.”
Alex and Oscar nominee Ralph were together for a decade before marrying in 1993 and divorcing in 1997.
Ahead of the official announcement, The Sun revealed last month that Alex had signed up for Strictly.
A source said at the time: “Bosses are delighted to have snapped up Alex.
“She’s a real talent and will add a lot.
“It’s always exciting to have a prestigious actress on the cast.
