Ukrainian dancer Nadiya, 36, who is partnered with former England rugby player Chris Robshaw, 39, insisted the show is about “people who have never danced”.
She added: “We often don’t see it because people who don’t have experience would sometimes leave the show earlier which is really sad as there is so much talent.
“It’s nice for the audience to see that it is possible to learn but you do need to put in the work which Chris is doing every day.”
Some believe Amber, 28, who is paired with pro Nikita Kuzmin, and former Billy Elliot actor Lewis Cope, 30, have an unfair advantage.
Nadiya said: “In this situation, it is not only Chris, it is any contestant who didn’t have any experience, not just dance — it’s any kind of performance experience.
“When you’re trained to be in the moment, to tell the story, you know how to show something — that helps a lot.”
She added: “Chris is taking all the information on board — he just needs a few more weeks to get to the point.
“It is the experience of knowing how to do that which is completely new and you can’t get overnight.”
The rugby star’s wife Camilla Kerslake, 37, made a dig at stars with experience.
She wrote online: “The experience differences are absolutely wild. Definitely.”
Chris said: “My wife is my biggest supporter.
“On Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins you could say I was fitter than some of the others.”
Nadiya has never made it to the final of the competition, despite joining in 2017.
Asked if she thinks Chris has what it takes to finish in the top four, she said: “Absolutely yes.
“But that’s far — there are 12 weeks to go.”
