Sundowns fans call for Rulani’s return after tactical masterclass in Algeria

Rulani Mokwena reunited with Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday evening when his side MC Alger, played to a goalless draw with the Tshwane giants.

A draw at the Stade Ali Ammar Douéra sees Masandawana move to four points after two games in their CAF Champions League group. Mokwena’s side earned their first point of the group stages but would be disappointed after not winning on Friday.

Having been at Sundowns for nearly a decade, Rulani was hoping to haunt his old team but poor finishing from his players saw them settle for a goalless draw.

Many Downs players felt MC Alger were tactically superior to their team and credited their former coach. Mokwena’s departure from the Brazilians was abrupt and had many of their supporters confused, given how he dominated the league and reached the CAF Champions League semis back-to-back.

Mamelodi Sundowns fans wants Rulani back

After the match, there was several Mamelodi Sundowns fans who praised Mokwena’s tactics. They felt their coach, Miguel Cardoso, was lucky not to lose Friday’s match.

Rulani was way better than Cardoso, most of the match was played on their terms..players let him down. Truth be told, Cardoso has taken the team backwards”

“He did exactly what we used to do to pirates and Chiefs, giving opponents 0 chances. He’s a master of that to break Rulani’s team or system, you need individual brilliance.”

Do you think Masandawana made a mistake by releasing Mokwena?
