Sundowns to beat Chiefs and Pirates for Bafana Bafana defender?

Mamelodi Sundowns are likely to beat rivals Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates to the signing of Fawaaz Basadien.

The experienced Stellenbosch left-back has been one of the most sought-after PSL players. In May, it was reported by Soccer Laduma that Sundowns tabled around R20 million for the 28‑year‑old left-back, placing them ahead in the race with Chiefs and Pirates.

“Sundowns are determined to sign Basadien. That’s why they are believed to have offered Stellenbosch FC R20m for his services. They know they have competition from both Chiefs and Pirates but they stand a better chance because of the money they are offering,” an insider told the publication.

Sundowns make offer for Basadien, bad news for Chiefs and Pirates

“If Sundowns sign Basadien then Chiefs could have a chance to sign Terrence Mashego from Sundowns, as they are looking at releasing him. It’s still at an early stage but things are looking good for Sundowns to get him this time around,” the insider added.

Masandawana have recently returned home following the FIFA Club World Cup. Given their reputation as one of the best teams in Africa, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them sign Basadienn this transfer period.

Chiefs and Pirates have already signed left-backs, leaving Basadien in ‘Sundowns’ hands’.

Which team will sign Basadien?
