Gauteng started the week chilly, with temperatures dipping to 6°C in Johannesburg and 4°C in Vereeniging.
“The mornings are still reminding us that winter is not totally going away,” said Joel Guy, a forecaster. Pretoria saw a slightly warmer start at 8°C, but the winter chill was still noticeable for early commuters.
Sunny skies in Gauteng before cloud moves in
Residents can look forward to a sunny day in Gauteng, with Johannesburg reaching 18°C, Springs 19°C, and Pretoria a comfortable 21°C.
“Later in the day we will see partly cloudy skies developing over the eastern areas of the province,” Guy noted.
These changes will bring a cooler evening, though no significant rainfall is expected.
Surrounding Regions Also Cool
Neighbouring Limpopo and Mpumalanga experienced a cooler-than-usual morning, with some towns in the upper teens by midday.
“We’re seeing a mix of winter-like mornings and warmer afternoons, which will continue for a few days.”
Do you think Gauteng’s mild afternoons are enough to make up for its icy mornings?
