Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in Bloubergstrand in the early hours of Sunday, while a separate incident saw an 87-year-old woman survive a home invasion in San Martin Crescent.
Bloubergstrand Murder
According to police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler, officers on routine patrol along Marine Circle discovered a crowd gathering near the scene of a stabbing.
An unresponsive man, found with a stab wound under his arm, was declared dead by paramedics at the scene.
Police detectives swiftly launched an investigation, obtaining video footage from nearby property surveillance.
Within hours, the footage helped identify two suspects – a 30-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman.
The duo were arrested at a Cape Town residence before noon on the same day and now face charges of murder.
They are expected to appear at the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 2 September.
Captain Chandler affirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring justice.
“We are determined to uphold safety and ensure that violent criminals are held accountable.”
San Martin Crescent Home Invasion
Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, an 87-year-old woman endured a traumatic encounter after a burglar forced entry into her home via a window.
Awakened by suspicious noises, the woman confronted the intruder and bravely shouted for help, alerting neighbours who rushed to her assistance.
During the commotion, the suspect attempted to flee, but fell while escaping through the window.
The suspect later died from injuries sustained during the fall.
Local residents praised the woman’s courage and were quick to support her in the aftermath.
