Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz has deleted all his Instagram posts that showed support for President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The move appears to be a response to the growing anger and protests directed at the president.
Diamond Platnumz and other celebrities face threats

Once a vocal supporter, Diamond Platnumz has now distanced himself from the political fallout, erasing all traces of his pro-Suluhu posts from social media.
Diamond Platnumz’s deleted praise post for President Suluhu
According to Tuko, before taking down the posts, Diamond had used his platform to campaign for Suluhu, praising her leadership and urging Tanzanians to vote for her.
In his last post, he wrote:
“You are a very gentle president, hardworking and very wise. But human beings rarely praise someone until the day they leave… You’ve done and continue to do a great job in Education, Health, Agriculture, Fishing, Infrastructure and more. Many people love and appreciate what you’re doing for our country. We will also show you our love by voting for you.”
That post, along with all others related to the campaign, has now disappeared from his page
Government Responds to Unrest With Force
The government has responded to the unrest with curfews, internet shutdowns, and military deployments.
Opposition leader Tundu Lissu of the Chadema party remains in jail on disputed treason charges, while Luhaga Mpina, the candidate for the second-largest opposition party, was disqualified on legal grounds.
Critics argue that with opposition voices silenced, the ruling CCM party effectively staged a coronation rather than a fair election.
