A MUM has shared the three-ingredient recipe she swears by to save money on packed lunches.
Claire shared a look at the golden brown rolls she’d whipped up, from just three things – yeast, flour and salt – in a video on her TikTok page.

She began by mixing together three cups of bread flour, or plain flour, a sachet of easy yeast and a teaspoon of salt.
Add 330ml of “very warm water”, mix well and then leave it in the bowl with a towel over the top – for a couple of hours, to allow it to rise.
Once it’s risen, taken it out of the bowl and put it onto a flour-covered worktop, where you can knead it into a large ball.
You can then divide it into as many piece as you want – Claire did six.
She also shared her clever trick to stop the rolls from drying out.
Alongside the rolls on a baking tray, she puts a pot of water in the oven.
Leave the rolls and the pot of water in the oven together for 10 minutes, before taking the pot out and leaving the rolls in for another 10 minutes to make them crisp up and go golden brown.
“They taste amazing and this is all natural ingredients,” Claire added.
“You haven’t got like 15 different ingredients like the ones you buy from the supermarket.
“Absolutely gorgeous!”
“Homemade bread baps/rolls,” she wrote in her TikTok caption.
“Taste amazing!”
The rolls aren’t the only way Claire saves money when it comes to packed lunches – she makes her own butter too.
In another TikTok, she poured two pots of double cream into a bowl, and whisked it until it started to turn yellow and separate.
While it took around 30 minutes with a handheld electric whisk, Claire said it would only take around five to six minutes in a food processor, which she’ll be doing next time.
Once it starts to separate, you need to squeeze the milk water out of it, before transferring it to a bowl of ice cold water and squeezing it again.
The ‘right’ way to store food
1. Use Airtight Containers
This helps to prevent exposure to air which can cause your food to go off. A glass container can help to be more hygienic and a sustainable option.
2. Label Everything
By labelling your food it helps to keep track of expiry dates and avoid food waste.
3. Store Like Items Together
This makes it easier to find what you are looking for. Use fridge dividers or reusabale bags to help section your fridge.
4. Use the Fridge and Freezer Wisely
Keep raw meat on the bottom shelf to avoid contamination, and use the freezer for longer-term storage.
5. Rotate Your Stock
Place newer items at the back and bring the older ones forward. This will mean you will be able to notice the foods that need eating first.
“You can save so much money by making your own butter,” she said.
“I used some of it in the mash in our Sunday dinner – gorgeous!
“I highly recommend giving it a go, it is so simple!”
