The Springboks will head to Eden Park in Auckland with renewed hope and optimism after victory over the Wallabies on Saturday.
In addition, the All Blacks suffered a shock first-ever defeat against Argentina in Argentina.
Eden Park, New Zealand’s national stadium and the home of rugby, has been a fortress for the All Blacks for 31 years now.
They last lost at the venue in 1994 and are on a 50-Test unbeaten streak.
Worst record
No surprise then to learn that the Springboks boast a poor record at the ground.
In fact, their worst record at any venue in world rugby where they have played at least 10 Tests.
The Springboks’ record at Eden Park reads: Played 10, won two, drawn one and lost seven for a win percentage of 20%.
South Africa last tasted victory on 25 September 1937 – some 88 years ago – when lock Phil Nel led his team to a 17-6 win.
The 11th Test between the the two fierce rivals will take place on Saturday, 6 September at 09:05 (SA time).
