The world’s most overcrowded tourist destinations revealed

A recent study by Go2Africa has ranked the world’s most overcrowded destinations, based on how many tourists visit compared to how many people reside in these places.

According to the Daily Mail, the data revealed that one tiny European country topped the list: Vatican City, which sees millions of tourists every year.

Despite having just 882 residents, the religious and historical epicentre welcomes an astonishing 6.8 million tourists annually, meaning there are 7 709 visitors for every local.

Next up was Andorra, located between France and Spain, with 9.6 million tourists a year compared to its 81 938 local population.

Rounding out the top three spots was San Marino, near north-central Italy, which sees 2 million travellers each year and is home to 33 581 people.
