Three-year-old found dead in septic tank

The Mandeni Police have opened an inquest docket into the death of a three-year-old boy whose body was found in a septic tank on 26 August.

The community of Mandeni was shocked by the tragic news that the little boy’s lifeless body was found near his home. His family approached the police on Tuesday morning when it was noticed he was missing on Monday, 25 August.

Various search and rescue teams IPSS Search and Rescue, SAPS K9 Search and Rescue Unit, and SAPS, scoured the area for the little boy after the alert. After a brief search, his lifeless body was discovered.

Investigations into how the boy got into the septic tank underway

Police spokesperson in KwaZulu-Natal, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said: “He was found in a septic tank in Mandeni near a fuel station along the R102 Road.”

Netshiunda confirmed an inquest docket relating to the boy’s death was opened and being investigated by the Mandeni police.

Details of how the boy got into the septic tank are unknown and under investigation.
