The formal bail application murder accused, Tiffany Meek, got under at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 21 July.
She is accused of killing her 11-year-old son, Jayden-Lee Meek, who was reported missing in May.
The court heard more testimony about the moments following the child’s death, including graphic details of the crime scene.
COURT HEARS CHILLING DETAILS
The court heard testimony from Investigating Officer Sergeant N. Diko, who presented a statement from a nurse who had examined Jayden-Lee. According to Diko, the child had a cut on his forehead, as well as bruises on his neck, arms, and right leg. He added that Jayden-Lee had blood on his lips.
Diko then read a statement from the dog handler who was present when the 11-year-old’s body was discovered. He added the dog, trained to detect blood, led the handler to the apartment. In the first bedroom, the dog reacted positively to a white pillow with blood droplets. Diko stated that the blood on the pillow matched Jayden-Lee’s DNA.
The officer also testified that they found the boy’s school bag, school shoes, and red school jacket in the Meek home. Additionally, they discovered blood on the mattress
TRIAL EXPECTED TO CONTINUE
Tiffany is facing charges of murder, defeating the ends of justice, crimen injuria, and obstructing the course of justice.
The case will resume on Tuesday, 22 July.
