The oldest elected president in US history, gave reporters a thumbs-up as he returned to the White House following the routine examination at Waloter Reed military hospital outside Washington.

“President Trump continues to demonstrate excellent overall health,” his doctor, Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, wrote in a letter released by the White House.

“His cardiac age – a validated measure of cardiovascular vitality via ECG -was found to be approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.

“He continues to maintain a demanding daily schedule without restriction.”

The check-up included a battery of routine tests, an updated COVID booster and Trump’s annual flu shot, Barbabella confirmed.

It comes three months after the White House announced Trump had been diagnosed with a vein condition, following speculation over bruising on his hand and swelling in his legs.

Earlier this week, officials described his Friday’s appointment as an “annual” check-up – despite the fact Trump already had one in April.

He then referred to it as a “semi-annual physical,” telling reporters: “I’m in great shape, but I’ll let you know. But no, I have no difficulty thus far… Physically, I feel very good. Mentally, I feel very good.”

The former president then launched into a trademark tirade, comparing his health to his predecessors.

“I also did a cognitive exam which is always very risky, because if I didn’t do well, you’d be the first to be blaring it, and I had a perfect score,” Trump said.

“Did Obama do it? No. Did Bush do it? No. Did Biden do it? I definitely did. Biden wouldn’t have gotten the first three questions right.”

In July, the White House revealed Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a benign but chronic condition common in older adults.

The bruising on his hand was linked to the aspirin he takes as part of a “standard” cardiovascular health program.

Trump has frequently appeared in public with heavy makeup on the back of his right hand to cover the bruising, fuelling months of wild speculation.

“President Donald J. Trump remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and physical performance,” Barbabella wrote in a separate memo released Friday night.

Trump spent roughly three hours at Walter Reed for what the White House described as a “scheduled follow-up evaluation.”

Barbabella’s letter said the check-up involved advanced imaging, lab testing and preventive health assessments, as the president prepares for upcoming overseas trips.

In recent months, false claims that Trump had died went viral online, with the hashtag #whereistrump trending in August after he wasn’t seen in public for several days.

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones even urged followers to “pray for Trump,” claiming without evidence that he was in a “health crisis” and “looked like he was about to collapse.”

The rumours were ultimately quashed when Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported that a US official had confirmed the president was in good health.
